You can choose one of the four choices of marine space legions each with different strength attributes, such as 5% more health for the Death Guard legion, 5% more attack for World Eaters, 10% combat ability energy for Sons of Horus, and finally 10% of movement speed for the Imperial Children legion. Whichever camp you choose determines how effectively you implement your battle strategy in Drop Assault. Do you want to play aggressively or just play smart with a solid strategy.

Just like a handful of other asynchronous battle based strategy games, the purpose of fighting here is to defeat the enemy and dominate the leaderboard ladder as the best “clan” in Drop Assault. For that you are given glory points that are accumulated with clan members (called chapters) of your neighbor so that their position rises on the leaderboard. If youve ever played Clash of Clans, you certainly wont be constrained by the controls that Drop Assault presents. You will still tap at the enemy landing site and your troops will automatically fight to follow their AI instincts.

As a strategy game with a formula that is pretty much branded as another game, Drop Assault needs to present something that makes it different from similar games. For this reason, Drop Assault blends the aspects of player raid and single player campaign in the war zone which is depicted as a battle map. In the map of the area you are shown the opponents territory that mixes enemy buildings for AI raid and player raid buildings.

This battle zone zoning system is arguably quite unique, because it also includes a strategic element for managing your resources. The more enemy outposts you successfully conquered on the battle map, the more resources you will get. The enemy factions that you face will also not stay quiet watching their outposts around your base fall one after another. Every hour there will always be just our outpost which is controlled again by the enemy and it is your duty to reclaim it in order to get glory points.

Another interesting thing in Drop Assault is the player versus player feature called Live Skirmish. This feature is an alternative player raid where you are more confronted with PvP activity in real time. The main objective of this Drop Assault feature also reminds me of the battle of RTS Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War. Your main goal is to get as many points as possible by mastering the three control points in the middle of the arena, besides that you can also win this battle by eliminating all existing enemy units. This one feature can be called the main attraction of Drop Assault, because in this way you get loot more often for relic crafting purposes than the normal way.

Although the concept of real time PvP sounds interesting, unfortunately the implementation of this one feature does not mean free from bugs. In several Live Skirmish sessions, I found that the battle that never started also started because the enemy that I faced was disconnected at the beginning of the game. As a result I was forced to restart the Drop Assault application via the force close method, and re-start the game once more.

Talking about Drop Assault doesnt feel complete if I dont mention the relic crafting feature that is in it. Relic itself is a special item that has a significant effect on your bases defense as well as additional attributes for your war units. You can get relics by forging some special shard shards obtained from your results in winning battles.

The existence of relics is an important element that makes your unit more competitive in dealing with opponents in Live Skirmish, as well as ordinary raid activities. You can also cover the shortcomings of the legions you choose by pegging the right relics so that they are more resilient on the battlefield. The strength of a relic is determined by the rarity (rarity) that is obtained randomly when you forge it in Forge.

Unfortunately to make one of these relics requires 20 pieces of machine spirit which is the IAP currency in Drop Assault.
