You will play as Jason, a street fighter who is supposed to lose a certain round but accidentally wins. Your boss named Frank is furious and wants your life as payment. You run away and eventually meet with Vera, a woman who promised to help from Franks pursuit but in return you have to do a few things for her.
Gangstar Vegas is still the same as its predecessor and also the GTA series. You are free to go around the city to complete side missions / challenges or you can also follow the main quest which is full of stories. The approach taken by Gangstar Vegas is far more casual than GTA, for example you dont have to drive to the quest to start, you can tap the quest on the map and then automatically you will start the quest. For me this is an interesting thing, sometimes I really want to take a walk but there are times when Im lazy and keep in mind the Gangstar Vegas map is quite large so this feature is very useful.
The quests that we have to go through are quite diverse, ranging from fist fights in a battle arena, to stealing a helicopter and landing it on the roof of a skyscraper. Gangstar Vegas is a big game, so dont be afraid about the number and variety of quests you can go through. As an illustration I have been playing for about 5 hours and it is noted that I have only completed 25% of this game.
But in terms of openness (considering this is an open world game) I must say that GTA has a slightly better mechanic. At Gangstar Vegas we are a little restricted in how we complete a quest. What I like about Gangstar Vegas is that this game has many types of vehicles ranging from Harley motorcycles, airplanes, steel tanks to motorized boats. We are also given the opportunity to buy it and by paying some money then the vehicle will be sent to our current location. Although you can steal any car that is passing, but keep in mind that most cars that pass by are ordinary cars.
The leveling and weapon system is also one of the most shining compared to similar games. Gangstar Vegas has more than 20 skills that you can increase each time you level up. If you are the type that likes to be reckless on the road then please raise your racing skills but if you are a fighter type then please increase your fighting skills. This gives a bit of an RPG element where character personalization becomes quite lively and different from other Gangstar players.
The funny thing about this game is if you are not careful crossing then you can get hit by a car. They will not automatically hit the brakes and stop in front of you like in the GTA game. If they drive fast enough then you can bounce and even die instantly.
The game presentation aspect is my favorite part in Gangstar Vegas. First, lets talk about the map. Gameloft is very proud of Gangstar Vegas which is 9x bigger than the previous game and this is indeed something cool. The map used in this game is made as closely as possible to the actual city of Vegas. You can spend your time leisurely watching the view from the bustling city center to the residential areas or even the beach. I cant understand how Gameloft can make this so detailed for the size of a mobile game.
The second part that I like about his presentation is that the whole dialogue is done using voice actors and is sometimes quite funny. Indeed, the overall story is quite standard and some of the dialogue seems to have often been spoken by most action films but its always fun to see the extra effort put into this game.
Gangstar Vegas is priced at $ 6.99 with an IAP in it. But this IAP is only a relief and absolutely not mandatory. I myself now have 1 million dollars and I do not know what to use for. Sometimes very expensive weapons such as sniper rifles can also be dropped from the enemy so not all of them have to be purchased through the shop.
To get money you will be given several options, you can take part in a wild race, kill wanted men who roam the streets, steal cars and sell them, invest in buying hotels and of course from the main quest. After all, if you really are an important member of a gang, then money isnt a problem.
Gangstar Vegas has a lottery system where you will get random items from a box. But to open this box you need a key which is also sold at an IAP store. But fortunately apart from the IAP store you will also get 1 key every day and also from playing frequently at the casino (Btw I can spend 30 minutes to 1 hour at the casino to play the mini game, much better than the many casino games circulating at App Store).
